About

"This band blows me away...bluesy rock that kicks a**! Great vocalist and solid musicians."

- Eastside Bar and Grill

Wild Horse blends blues and rock into an amalgam of thick guitar hooks and deep grooves. Blues, soul, rock, riffs, thunderous drums, smashing bass, and mean guitar playing.

Ryan Barclay founded the band in 2008, originally called "Locomotive" with members Jason Smith and Matt Sapio. Starting out as a Jimi Hendrix and psychedelic blues band, Wild Horse created a sound all their own.

In 2020, Ryan moved to Portland, Oregon and assembled a new team of skilled and groove laden musicians. With a solid vision for wanting a band full of energy, authenticity, and heavy rock and roll - the journey began again. Wild Horse has played a variety of stages, dive bars, blues clubs, fundraisers, and festivals.

Growing up, Ryan Barclay would attend his father's live shows at local venues. His father being an accomplished musician and Musicians Institute of Technology graduate, he soaked up and learned music including, but not limited to Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mike Stern, AC/DC, Doyle Bramhall II, and Joe Bonamassa.

Tage Novak grew up in California, being influenced early on by Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Rush. He grew to be massively influenced by Tommy Aldridge of Ozzy Osbourne, as well as being influenced by newer bands such as Tool and Floater.

Chris Rourke, aka "Hooey Bee", was raised in the West Coast, but learned his roots in the south, where he cut his bass playing teeth on Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Hooey found success later in life with jug band music; America's backbone for rock and roll. He has played all across the United States, and adds an amazing bottom end to keep the ship sailing.
