About

"This band blows me away...bluesy rock that kicks a**! Great vocalist and solid musicians."

- Eastside Bar and Grill

Wild Horse blends thick blues, soul, and funk into a rock amalgam of deep grooves and heavy guitar hooks. The band's authentic performances capture the spirit of vintage blues and soul, but go a little heavier and a little meaner.

Ryan Barclay founded the band in 2008, originally called "Locomotive" with members Jason Smith and Matt Sapio. Starting out as a Jimi Hendrix and psychedelic blues band, Wild Horse created a sound all their own. Going through many iterations and lineups over the years, the band is at its strongest and most electrifying.

In 2020, Ryan Barclay moved to Portland, Oregon and assembled a new team of highly skilled and groove laden musicians. With a solid vision for wanting a band full of energy, authenticity, and heavy blues influenced rock and roll - they spearhead their way through venues. Wild Horse has played a variety of stages, dive bars, blues clubs, fundraisers, and festivals.

Growing up, Ryan Barclay would attend his father's live shows at local venues. His father being an accomplished musician and Musicians Institute of Technology graduate, he soaked up music including, but not limited to John Coltrane, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Mike Stern, AC/DC, Doyle Bramhall II, and Joe Bonamassa. This would prove to influence his ability to write not just for his own band, but also indie videogames and theater productions.

Daniel "Secret Weapon" Rofelty grew up in Silverton, Oregon, where he was an accomplished Jazz drummer in high school. Influenced by any and everything, he can tastefully accent any song whether it's the heaviest rock riff or the slickest Motown groove.

Chris Rourke, aka "Hooey Bee", was raised in the West Coast, but learned his roots in the south, where he cut his bass playing teeth on Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Hooey found success later in life with jug band music; America's backbone for rock and roll. He has played all across the United States, and adds an amazing bottom end to keep the ship sailing.
